Ok, it's been a long time since the last post - I finally got around to scanning the other three volumes I own for Meiji era uniforms. These are very early Meiji era uniform drawings. I believe the volumes were created for tailors to make them according to official specifications, as they're quite detailed and include measurements for things like the size of insignias.
