Antique Japanese Military 1912 Shobukai Special Task Award Lacquer Army Sake Cups
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup set, decorated with a badge of the Order of Rising Sun set within a cherry blossom on each of the cups, and the words on the back of the cups are "Fukui Prefecture Shobukai". The cup comes with an original wooden box, with a lot of details written under the lid of the box. The text goes as follows (from right to left):
Meiji 44th Year Newly drafted soldier. Same year April 1st Class private, bayonet skills specialty, July assigned to Kanazawa 7th Regiment, October assigned to Toyama area, November 20th Ordered to discharge
Army 1st Class Private Saito Iwakuma.
Awarded a set of wooden cups to reward his special military tasks merit during service
Taisho 1st Year October 1st
(Signed) Fukui Prefecture Shobukai Chairman 5th Class Ikematsu Jiwa
(The last three lines are the military service record of Ikematsu - basically he was a corporal)
On the bottom of the box are the dates "Taisho 1st Year December 22nd". This is probably the date of the writing on the box
Condition: Mint. The box is a bit worn and cracked on the lid due to shrinkage
