This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags and the words "Furlough Discharge Commemoration" and on the back is the soldier's full name Yamazaki Sadasuke. There's a sticker on the back from the shop - this is a tax sticker, which was applied to lacquerware.
