Antique Japanese Military Officer Club Swordsmanship Arena Construction Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a badge of the Order of Rising Sun and a cherry blossom on top of it. The words on the back are "42nd Infantry Regiment Officer Club Commemoration". The words on the lid of the box are "Construction of Swordsmanship Arena" "Commemoration" "42nd Infantry Regiment Officer Club". Under the lid is a label for the shop that made the cup - located in Yamaguchi prefecture, which was where the 42nd was based. Under the box are more information about the cup - Yamaguchi prefecture, and a township name, as well as what I think is the soldier's name - a certain Mr. Ishida.
