Regular price $0

This is an antique Japanese ashtray, decorated with "five scenes from Port Arthur". It commemorates the Japanese victory over the Russians at Port Arthur and was probably made in the few years after the war had ended. The five scenes are five memorials that were built to commemorate the various exploits of the Japanese military in capturing the city. The scene in the middle is the "Showing Loyalty" tower built on Baiyu mountain to commemorate the war dead - said to be cast with captured Russian cannons. The other scenes are the Navy Camp "Greeting" site, where the Russians surrendered after a long and bloody siege, the East Chicken Crown Mountain fort, the Erling Mountain commemorative stele, and the memorial to the unit that basically sacrificed themselves to sink their own ships to blockage the port. The words "Port Arthur Commemoration" are embossed on the four slots for cigarettes. The back of the tray has a trademark registered number. The ashtray comes with an original box that has a nice decoration on top.

Condition: It has signs of use in the middle with a little burn mark, but otherwise is in fantastic condition.

Size: 5" across
