Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1942 Java Conquest Commemoration Army Sake Cup
This is a very rare antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with the words on the side that say "Java Island 'Ranbure' Conquest Commemoration" and on the other side "Showa 17th Year March 12th". By March 12th the Dutch were essentially defeated and the island had basically fallen. I'm not quite certain where exactly this 'Ranbure" is on the island of Java. The name of the association making the cup at the bottom is called "Friends of the prefecture association" - probably some local patriotic association. It's very rare to find anything related to a WW2 era Pacific War cup.
