This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a flag, chrysanthemums, a star, and the words "36th Infantry Regiment Discharge Commemoration". The words in the middle on the back are "Corporal Miyagawa" and around the cup "Gift to Suzukaze Sanosuke." This would be a cup from a unit corporal to probably his subordinates on discharge. The name of the person in the base of the cup is normally the person gifting the gift.
