This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a rifle and a flag. The words are "Suppression Commemoration" "35th Infantry" and the soldier's name Kiyomizu on the back. The word here "suppression" is used in the context of some kind of bandit suppression work - this is usually in reference to Japanese fighting against local rebels in Manchukuo in the 1930s.
