This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a flag and a blown ink cherry blossom. The words are "Sakhalin" on top and "Discharge" on the right. The soldier's name Nanba is on the left. Sakhalin is of course the island north of Japan that was briefly acquired by Japan after the Russo Japanese war until 1945.
