This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags, one of which is the flag of a signal unit, a kiri, and a poem, with the insignia of the signal unit at the bottom. The words are "1st Signal Regiment". The poem is about the lightness of one's body and heaviness of one's duties. The soldier's name Sakai is on the back.
