This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with the words in the center "Holy War" - a phrase that only began its usage after 1941. The words on the back are "Ichikawa Unit". This is a unit callsign using the commander's name - these were codes and could be as small as a battalion and as big as a division. I'm not sure which/where this unit might refer to.
