This is a very rare antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags, one for the army and one for the navy, and the big words "Meiji 27/28th Years War Commemoration" Then the rest of the words is a long list of events that took place during the 1st Sino Japanese War of 1894-95. It includes all the major and quite a few minor events, starting with the Battle of Pungdo naval engagement, and ending with the Pacification of Taiwan in November the following year. I'd be happy to provide a list of all the events. The cup is made of lacquered wood and comes with original wooden box. The box's lid has a pretty worn out label underneath, with a shop in Aichi prefecture.
