Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1932 Shanghai Incident Cruiser Oi Shell Shaped Sake Bottle

Regular price $0

This is an antique Japanese military sake bottle, made in the shape of an artillery shell and decorated on the front with anchor, flag, and cherry blossoms. The words are "Shanghai Incident" "Navy Victorious Return Commemoration". The words on the back are "Warship Oi" and the sailor's name Nakano. Oi was a cruiser assigned to coastal patrol duty during the Shanghai Incident. As not that many troops were involved in the operation - mostly SNLF and a handful of ships - it's quite rare to have an item specifically commemorating a unit (or in this case, a ship) during this short military confrontation.

The lid of the bottle comes off as a cap. It's quite loose as they always are, so often you find bottles with no caps because they get broken easily.

Condition: Excellent - the gold around the lid is a bit faded

Size: 3" across and 6" tall
