This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a horse, a flag, and some cherry blossoms. The words are "3rd Transport" "Discharge Commemoration". The exterior of the cup is in the shape of a helmet, with an extremely rare character "shitsu" - the first word of one of the five virtues of the soldiers, frugality/simplicity. I suspect this would've been a set of five, with one character for each of the five virtues on one of each cup. Most of the time you only see the cup for martial bravery, with the other four cups being very rarely seen. The cup comes with an original cardboard box - just a plain box with a sheet of paper wrapped on the lid.

Condition: The cup is in mint condition. The sheet of the paper on the lid is a bit torn.
