This is an antique Japanese military cigarette case, decorated on the front with a picture of a Japanese officer using a periscope looking at an enemy position across some body of water. There are two more soldiers supporting him. The inside has lining that helps keeps the cigarettes in place. The box is metal - probably aluminium.
