This is a pretty unique artifact. It is a post-war cup, decorated with three cherry blossom petals and on the back with the words "Former Navy Destroyer Sakura Association". This is a veterans association for the survivors of the destroyer Sakura, which sank in Osaka harbor due to striking a mine. 130 of the crew died, while the rest, including the captain (who got knocked out by the mine) survived. I found this webpage of a personal recollection of how veterans of the ship set up this "Sakura association" which met every two years to commemorate the dead, and the page was dated to 2013. The webpage was talking about him receiving news of the death of the captain of the ship, Urabe Shoji, and how there were only few veterans remaining at this point. It's a very interesting item, even though it's post-war, it commemorates a ship that had a short, late-war (1944-45) service and showed how some of these veterans still held on to memories of their service long after the war was over.
