Antique Japanese Lacquer Patriotic Women's Association Box
This is an antique Japanese lacquer box. It has a nice tassel on top, and on the inside under the lid is an insignia of the Patriotic Women's Association, which was founded after 1900 and mostly had upper class women as members. This box is meant to look like a shinto-shrine bell, which you ring when you pray. It was an association supposed to help soldiers in various ways, and was a way for women to contribute to any and all war efforts.
Condition: Some fading of the gold around the middle band
