Antique Japanese Military 1895 Battle of Weihaiwei Commemorative Dish
This is an antique Japanese dish, decorated with a detailed picture of the bay of Weihaiwei, with ships sinking in the back and Japanese troops marching on the defenses in the front. This was a harbour and fort designed by German advisors for the Qing government, and was the main port of the Qing Beiyang fleet. The Japanese were trying to take this (and succeeded in doing so) as the last major battle of the Sino Japanese War of 1895. The words on the top right says the follows:
"Capture of Weihaiwei - Qing destruction - The Japanese Army's Strong Assault Stuns the Nations"
Condition: Excellent - some fading of colors. I have a few of these dishes so individual ones have small differences from the photo
Size: 5" across
