This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a cherry blossom and the words "Righteousness and Bravery". The words on the back of the cup are "Meiji 27/28th Years War Victorious Return 4th Infantry Regiment 6th Company". This refers to the first Sino-Japanese War of 1895 and the beginning of Japan's half century of dominance in East Asia.
