This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, made of silver and decorated with the words "Commemoration" in the center. The words on the back, hand carved, are "Officers of the 33rd Infantry Regiment". The words on the lid of the original wooden box are "Silver cup" and on the underside "Assigned to 33rd Infantry Regiment in Meiji 30th Year (1897) November, transfers to the 18th Infantry Regiment in Meiji 32nd Year May. On this occasion officers including regimental commander Colonel Shimamura presented this cup at the farewell dinner" and the name of the person who probably received the gift, Azai Seiji. He would be an officer of the regiment if he got gifted a cup by the regimental commander
