Antique Japanese Military 1901 Red Cross Association Award Lacquer Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a big character "Sincerity" and on the left is the name of the person who wrote the character originally, the Prince Komatsu Akihito, who was the honorary president of the Red Cross Association of Japan at the time, as well as a field marshal and the former chief of staff for the Imperial Japanese Army. The words on the back of the cup are "Japanese Red Cross Association". The lid of the box has the words "One wooden cup" and on the underside of the lid "Meiji 34th Year December Japanese Red Cross Association Award" and the person's name Obayashi Isaku. This is the same guy who got the cup for the Sino Japanese war commemoration cup. The cup also comes with a white silk wrapping cloth. The base of the box has a sticker stuck to it naming the shop that made the cup - listed as officially designated supplier of lacquerware to the Red Cross Association and located in Ginza.
