Antique Japanese Military 1902 Cranes Rising Sun Army Lacquer Sake Cup w/ box
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated beautifully with two cranes flying under the rising sun with rays. The words on the exterior of the cup are "Meiji 35th Year February 28th, 37th Infantry Regiment Leaving the Service" and the full name Kita Jinsaburo. The cup comes with a wooden box and a name card from the shop that sold it, located in Kyoto with an additional phone number in Osaka - the 37th regiment was based in Osaka.
Condition: Excellent - there are two spots under the person's name where the lacquer paint seems to have been corroded a little on the surface. Otherwise it's in mint condition. The box's tying strings are a bit beat up.
