Antique Japanese Military 1906 Army Youth Academy Graduation Imperial Cadet Branch Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an insignia of some cadet branch of the imperial house - using 14 instead of 16 petals chrysanthemum and charged with a cherry blossom in the center. The words on the cup's exterior are "Meiji 39th Year May 30th Army Youth Academy Graduation Commemoration". I suspect this is for a member of the imperial household - a junior cadet branch that uses this insignia. The youth academy was for the training of career army officers starting at a young age - attendees were basically in grades 7-8 or so, or early teenage years.
