This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a family crest in the center and a star on top. The words are "Furlough Commemoration" "Taisho 3rd Year (1914) November" and the soldier's name Kajii is on the back. November 1914 was when the Siege of Tsingtao (Qingdao) ended after Japanese involvement as a British ally - quite possibly this is a soldier returning from the campaign.

Condition: Excellent - some fading of the gold
