This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a helmet, a flag, and cherry blossoms. The words are "Shanghai Expedition Victorious Return Commemoration". This is in reference to the expedition to Shanghai in 1932 - where Japan fought a month long battle in support of its eventual conquest of Manchukuo.
