Antique Japanese Military Beijing Defense Unit Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a star and a pair of flags. The words are "Shuntian Defense Unit" "Furlough Commemoration" and the soldier's name Toda. Shuntian is the city of Beijing's old name during the Qing dynasty, which fell in 1911. This should be a Qing dynasty cup probably for a soldier who was part of the small security unit defending the Japanese embassy etc.
