This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an insignia of the Butokukai - which is an organization started out as a martial arts instruction school but gradually turned into a propaganda arm of the government promoting ultra nationalist and militaristic views. The association was shut down by GHQ after the war and then restarted under the same name later in the 50s.
