This is an antique Japanese military tray, decorated with a hand carved piece of artillery, looking like an old Meiji era artillery piece (is this the Canon de montagne de 4 La Hitte?). The words are "Imperial Guards Artillery" and the soldier's name Yamayi. There's some kind of maker's mark on the back of the tray.

Condition: Excellent - small scratches on the surface
