This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pine tree, and on the back are the words "China Incident Victorious Return Commemoration" and the name Shiro. Shiro is a given name - suggesting this is probably given by a family member. The cup is made of pewter and there's a maker's mark in the base.
