This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a flag, a star, and some cherry blossoms. There's a poem on the top about defending the nation's borders as a very important duty, and on the right are the words "Korea Border Defense Hyesan Garrison Unit". Hyesan is on the Sino-Korean border and right on the south bank of the Yalu river. The exterior of the cup has an embossed cherry blossom and poem pattern. The soldier's name Sakai is in the base.
