This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a crane and a star. The words are "Maizuru Heavy Artillery" "Term Fulfillment Commemoration". The name Furutake family is on the back. The reason this crane symbol shows up so often on Maizuru cups is because Maizuru literally means "dancing crane".
