This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags, a helmet, and a star with a crane on top. The words on the cup are "Discharge Commemoration" "Gubeikou Garrison Unit". Gubeikou is a town not far from Beijing - about two hours drive northeast of the city these days. It was a border town between Manchukuo and China at the time. The exterior of the cup is in the shape of a helmet with a pair of rifles as the base.
