This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a flag, some cherry blossoms, and an insignia of the railroad defense unit. The words are "Manchuria Independent Defense Commemoration" and the soldier's name Mashima. This refers to the units sent to defend Japanese railroad interest before they took over Manchuria in the 1930s.
