Antique Japanese Military Nikudan Three Soldiers Bomb Commemorative Tile
This is an interesting piece - the item is basically a fired clay tile depicting the Three Nikudan Heroes. The story is that during the brief Shanghai Incident siege there was an enemy line that was very difficult to penetrate, and these three guys basically took a bomb and ran towards enemy line. They killed themselves but blew a hole in Chinese defenses, so they were lionized as heroes back home.
The back of this item has the three soldiers' name, Sakue Inosuke, Kitagawa Susumu, and Eshita Takeji. The left most line says "Made by Sakai Pottery Company"
Condition: Excellent - the back of the tile has a crack of sorts but I think that's a manufacturing defect
Size: 5"x4"
