This is an antique Japanese military commemorative dish, decorated with a picture of the three nikudan heroes and some poem. The story is that during the brief Shanghai Incident siege there was an enemy line that was very difficult to penetrate, and these three guys basically took a bomb and ran towards enemy line. They killed themselves but blew a hole in Chinese defenses, so they were lionized as heroes back home.
