Antique Japanese Military Three Human Bombs Shanghai Incident Army Dish
This is an antique Japanese military dish, decorated with three soldiers each carrying a bomb. The words on the dish are "Three Brave Warriors" and this is in reference to the three human bombs of Shanghai - during the Shanghai incident when three engineers threw themselves at a Chinese defensive line with bombs, blowing a hole in the line but also themselves in the process. They were much celebrated in the Japanese press as heroes as a result.
