Antique Japanese Military WW2 Akatsuki Shipping Headquarters Great East Asian War Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an army shipping unit insignia. The words on the back are "Great East Asian War Participation Commemoration" "Akatsuki 2940 Unit Commander". This is the army's shipping section - since the IJA and IJN had poor relations, the IJA did their own supply for shipping goods to remote bases. The Akatuski unit is the codename for the army shipping service, and the 2940 section was the headquarters of the shipping service.
Condition: Excellent - some fading of the words on the back.
Size: 2.75" across
