This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a helmet, a poem, and a pair of flags, one of which is the flag for the Provisional Government of China set up in 1938 and reorganized in 1940 (changing flag after that). So this cup dates to that period when Japan set up a puppet state for the territories it controlled in China at the time.
