Antique Japanese Miltiary Anchor Lifebuoy Navy Lacquer Tray
This is an antique Japanese naval lacquered tray, decorated with an anchor, a bunch of cherry blossoms, and a lifebuoy. The words on the front are "Term Fulfillment Commemoration" and on the back is the sailor's name Oyamada. I'm not sure of the significance of the lifebuoy - usually these are related to the job the person performed on a ship, so maybe the lifebuoy suggests this person was assigned rescue duties, among other things.
Condition: Some minor cracking on the back along the edge, as is fairly typical of trays of this age.
Size: 11.5" x 8"
