Antique Japanese National 2600th Anniversary Founding 1940 Lacquer Tray
This is an antique Japanese lacquer tray, decorated with a couple phoenixes, and two banners, one of which says "Banzai". The words on the tray are "2600th Anniversary Commemoration" and "Sachiko Birth Commemoration". This is probably a family celebrating the birth of their daughter while also celebrating the national foundation 2600th Anniversary, which happened in 1940 at the height of Japanese power. The tray is made of lacquered wood, and comes in an original paper bag that says "passed inspection by the manufacturing department" and some advertising slogans for some kind of lacquerware association.
Condition: There's some very minor surface wear on the back. The tray is a bit warped. I can't tell if the paper bag is supposed to open on two sides (left and top) or if it's been torn.
