Antique Japanese Type 91 Howtizer Artillery Army Wooden Shell Shaped Box
This is an antique Japanese military themed wooden box, carved out of wood and was probably used for holding tea leaves or maybe incense. The box is shaped like an artillery shell, and is decorated on the front with what looks to be a Type 91 howitzer. The words on the box are "Discharge Commemoration 8th Artillery" and the soldier's name Sato is on the left. The box is double lidded - the top of the shell is the outer lid, and there's another inner lid. Both are very tight so this is really well made for holding items that need to be air tight.
Condition: Mint. There's a spot on the back of the bottle where the wood is missing a small piece. Looks like original damage to the wood itself since it's painted with the same varnish as the rest of the bottle with no sign of repair.
Size: About 6" tall
