Antique Military 1895 First Sino Japanese War Yalu River Crossing Army Dish
This is an antique Japanese military army dish, decorated with a nicely detailed picture of the beginning of the Japanese attempt to cross the Yalu River at the border of Korea and China. The commander sitting on his horse is named Colonel Sato, who was the head of the 18th Infantry Regiment which served as the spearhead of this crossing operation. The crossing was successful and the entire army crossed over in the coming days.
