This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a star that has a cherry blossom at the center. The words on the back are "Korakuen Minister of the Army Tour of Garden Party" and around the rim "Meiji 37/38th Years War Victorious Return Commemoration". This must be some kind of victory party at the historic Korakuen in Okayama, one of the three major Japanese gardens in the traditional style. The person who got this cup is probably a high ranking officer given it's from the Minister of Army.
