Exquisite Pair of Antique Japanese Military Kutani Hand Painted Cavalry Soldier Army Sake Cups
This is an exquisitely hand painted pair of antique Japanese Kutani military sake cups. The pair of cups have two different images. One has a cavalry officer leading a unit marching pass a river. The other has a nice landscape painting of some pine tree branch on a stone with some water in front. Both cups have a very nicely done crane on the exterior. Both cups have different signatures by the same person - one (all in red) says "Kutani - made by Kaburagi" and the other has "Kutani" in the base and the signature of Kaburagi on the side in handwriting. The cups come with original wooden box stamped with original kiln stamps of the Kaburagi workshop of Kutani, and the words written on it are "Signed piece - porcelain cups". Kutani is a collection of kilns that produce very finely decorated ceramic items.
Condition: Mint. The box is cracked on the back due to the wood drying but the integrity of the box is intact
Size: 2" across each
