Pair of Antique Japanese Pewter 1919 Term Fulfillment Army Navy Sake Cup
This is a pair of antique Japanese pewter cups, decorated on the interior with a cherry blossom and the character "congratulations" each. The words on the cup are identical on the outside as well - "Taisho 8th Year Term Fulfillment Commemoration' and then the soldier's full name Nishikawa Hakutaro. I can't tell if these are for the army or the navy - could be either. The base of the cups have the seal for the maker, Suzuhan, which was in business from 1714 until 1996 when they finally closed. The lid of the box has the words "Term Fulfillment Commemoration Cup" and seals of both Suzuhan, the company, and also the name of the maker, probably. The bottom of the box has the label for Suzuhan as well, noting that they were located in Shinsaibashi in Osaka.
Condition: Excellent - one cup is in mint condition, the other one has a very small amount of wear. Please see pictures.
Size: 2" across each.
