Rare Antique Japanese 1895 Sino Japanese War Gift From Company Captain Army Sake Cup Boxed
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags, and the words "Army Participation Commemoration" "16th Infantry Regiment 11th Company". The cup comes with original yellow wrapping cloth and original cardboard box. On the cover of the box is affixed a label that says "16th Infantry Regiment 11th Company" "From Army Infantry Captain Mr. Hasegawa Shinzo" "Gifted for the occasion of Meiji 27/28th Years Army Participation Commemoration" and on the left is probably the name of the person who got the cup, Suzuki Gomame. It's rare to have such details for a cup, once again showing that these were often gifts between military personnel - in this case the soldier's commanding officer for his company, who probably made one for everyone in his company as a parting gift after a war to commemorate the event. The big words on the label are "Commemorative Cup". It's in beautiful condition for a 120 years old item.
Condition: Mint. The box has some wear but still mostly intact.
