This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a big badge of the Order of Rising Sun. The words around the cup are "Temporary Korea Expeditionary Infantry 1st Regiment" and the soldier's name Mizukoshi on the back. This is in reference to Japan's involvement in the 1st Sino Japanese War when Japan sent a number of units to intervene in Korea and eventually gained control of the peninsula.
