Rare Antique Japanese Military 1912 Cruiser Tokiwa North Qing Patrol Navy Lacquer Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an interesting variation of the naval insignia - with coloured cherry blossom in the middle of the anchor. The words on the back are "Sailors of the warship Tokiwa, as members of the 2nd Fleet served in the patrols of the Northern Qing. This cup was made with the imperially bestowed money gifted on Meiji 45th Year (1912) June 14th". The Japanese sent some troops to China to ensure the safety of its citizens during the Xinhai revolution of 1911 that saw the downfall of the Qing.
