Rare Antique Japanese Military 1915 Battleship Mikasa Taisho Enthronement Navy Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, made with pewter and decorated on the front with the three sacred treasures of the imperial throne - the mirror, the sword, and the jewel, with a branch of chrysanthemum underneath. The words on the exterior of the cup are "Warship Mikasa" "1st Class Engine Room Sailor" "Enthronement Commemoration". The cup comes with original box, with the lid also saying "Enthronement Commemoration Cup". The cup is made of high tin-content pewter so it's quite white and shiny. The black dots are put there deliberately as accents. Cups with named ships are fairly rare, and the Mikasa, of course, was Togo's flagship during the Russo Japanese War. Even though the cup doesn't name the emperor, this has to be for Taisho's enthronement because by the time Showa's came (1928) Mikasa was retired.
Size: 3.5" across
Condition: Light scratches on the surface. The box is a bit worn.
