Rare Antique Japanese Military 1927 East Asian Map Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a very nicely detailed map of East Asia, looking to be hand-drawn. The place names on it are the usual ones, with two exceptions - the words on Japan is actually "Matsumoto" and near the name Manchuria is the smaller name "Tieling". This is for the unit - 50th Infantry, which is written on the back with a poem. Matsumoto is where the 50th is from, and Tieling is where it was posted in 1927. The unit was sent to Shandong in 1928, so it didn't stay there for very long. It was part of the garrison for defending Japanese interests in NE China, especially the Southern Manchuria Railroad.
